Like the title says... what would you use? Street motor, probably will never be past 5,000rpm, running EFI. I know this is like the turbo vs. supercharger, or short vs. long rod motor, everyone will have their opinion... that's all I'm looking for. I'd like to get forged for durability, but my understanding is the (hyper)eutectic will help with longevity because they don't expand as much as forged. _________________ Darren

For a mild build, i'd say go cheap(lol) and use hypers.
Hell my junk still has cast pistons in it so........mabe you don't wanna take my advice. _________________ 400(350 for now) 142 supercharger

hell I would skip hypers altogether there like glass so I would look at cast or forged depending on your budget...

hypers....
real world experience...they AREN'T glass.
357 ran 7000 for years with them.
406 runs 6000 with them and ONLY runs 11s on muscle.
no sense in building a 1000 horsepower 10k rpm bottom end and sticking a stock cam in it as a driver. just doesn't make sense. if future plans call for a fogger and whatnot then build it for the final goal. if its a driver/beater then hypers will be more than fine.
but what do i know? i dont work for the world's best southern speed shop! _________________ its a 305 with a holley 390.

Ok, I'll probably stick with those then... at least for now. No telling where this engine will be living in the future, I may eventually upgrade to a set of good aftermarket heads and something that can still be run by the same computer... adding the EBL will make it about as tunable as the OBD II systems I'm assuming. I'd almost like to build it for E85 which would be high compression, but I have no clue how much fuel I'll be able to get in with the TBI injectors, and an upgraded fuel system (i.e. GMPP RamJet or ACCEL Super-Ram) should take care of that. _________________ Darren
